HARTFORD, Ky. — Southern Elementary School will be closed to all in-person instruction starting Thursday, Jan. 21, according to the Ohio County Public Schools Facebook page. The school will remain closed to in-person instruction through Friday, Jan. 29. All other Ohio County schools will continue in-person instruction using the A/B Hybrid Schedule.
All Southern Elementary students, including pre-school, will move to remote instruction during the shutdown. Parents and guardians of Southern Elementary students will receive more information from the principal and/or teachers.
Ohio County Schools apologized for the inconvenience, but said it was “doing what we feel is the best for our staff and students.”
While the Facebook post didn’t provide a reason for the shutdown, today’s COVID-19 update for OC Schools showed five active confirmed COVID-19 cases among the staff members of Southern Elementary. In addition to the staff cases, seven in-person learning students also had active confirmed cases of COVID-19. Among the schools in Ohio County, Southern had the most confirmed active cases.
