MORGANTOWN, Ky. — Bessie Mae Garner Williams, 87, of Morgantown, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2021, at her residence. Bessie was born March 11, 1933, in Louisville, Kentucky, to the late William Lelsie and Bessie Bryant Garner and wife of the late Harold Williams.
She was a member of Barnett’s Lick Missionary Baptist Church and she retired from the Pantry in Morgantown. Bessie enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren.
Other than her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by two sons, Danny and Steve Cook; two sisters, Betty Shepherd and Hazel Henderson; and three brothers, Donald, James, and Leslie Garner.
Bessie Mae Garner Williams is survived by three daughters, Sandy Garner (John), Cathy Johnson (Phillip), and Sheila Hall (Allen), all of Morgantown; one son, Bobby Williams, of Morgantown; three sisters, Joyce Graig, of Orlando, Florida, Pam Costello, of Morgantown, and Rose Keown, of Louisville, Kentucky; three brothers, Charles Garner (Edna), of Centertown, Kentucky, Lonnie Garner (Janet), of Morgantown, and Roger Garner, of Morgantown; 10 grandchildren, Russell Tichenor, Jennifer Tichenor, Shane Henderson, all of Morgantown, Ashley Lambert (Jody), of Bowling Green, Brian Williams (Olivia), of Auburn, Kentucky, Justin Williams, Sahena Bates, Cory Beasley, Eric Cook, and Daniella Bryant (Billy), all of Morgantown; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at the Jones Funeral Chapel Saturday, Jan. 16, at 2 p.m. with Bro. Jay Raymond officiating. Burial will be held in the Wade Cemetery where Justin, Eric, Keaton, Matthew, Kahner and Brian will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be held on Saturday, Jan. 16, from 10 a.m. until funeral time at 2 p.m. at the Jones Funeral Chapel.
