BEAVER DAM, Ky. — The Beaver Dam Tourism Commission has announced it will cancel the Downtown Christmas Festival this year. The event was scheduled to take place this weekend in downtown Beaver Dam. The Beaver Dam Christmas Parade is still scheduled and will be livestreamed on the BD Tourism Commission’s Facebook page for those who wish to stay home for safety reasons.

The BD Tourism Commission made the announcement on its Facebook page Tuesday afternoon. Included in the announcement are recommendations for those who wish to attend the parade.

“After careful deliberation, we have decided to cancel our Christmas Fest for 2020. With the rising COVID-19 cases in Ohio County, we feel that this was the best decision for our community. However, the Christmas parade will still take place Saturday at 5 p.m. The parade will begin at Beaver Dam Elementary School, we ask that you use the sidewalks and allow distance between you and the family next to you. Also, we will be livestreaming the parade and it can be viewed on the Beaver Dam Tourism Facebook page. We encourage you to watch in the comfort of your own home, but if you do decide to come in-person please respect your neighbor and keep a distance. We appreciate your understanding during these difficult times. Thank you, Beaver Dam Tourism Commission”
A post on the Beaver Dam city Facebook page also asks those attending the parade to wear face masks. The Beaver Dam city post also states more information on the parade will be released closer to Saturday.
