HARTFORD, Ky. — Ohio County Sheriff Tracy Beatty is reporting the Grandparent Scam is back trying to take advantage of Ohio County seniors.
Senior citizens have reported receiving phone calls from scammers claiming to be their “grandchildren” or someone telling the seniors how to help their “grandchildren.” The senior victims are asked to send a large sum of money to the scammer in order to help their “grandchildren.”
“The good nature of our seniors is being preyed upon and scammers are taking advantage of the love and concern they have for their families,” Beatty said.
If you or someone you know has been a victim of this scam, call the Ohio County Sheriff’s Office at 270-298-4411 to speak to a deputy. You can also report to the Attorney General’s Office at 888-432-9257.
Be sure to share this information with your loved ones so they are prepared if they receive this call.
