KSP warns public of scams

MADISONVILLE, Ky. — Kentucky State Police Post 2 in Madisonville has been contacted by multiple concerned citizens about scams.

Currently, KSP Post 2 has been made aware of two different scams. The first scam was a call from someone claiming to work for AT&T. The scammer told the caller if they would send $1,000 via eBay cards, their monthly bill would be lower. After sending payment, the victim would qualify for other discounts if more eBay cards were sent.

The second scam was similar, but this person claimed to work for Amazon. The scammer requested money to be sent via Google Play cards.

The KSP would like to remind everyone to never share your Social Security Number or other personal information online or by phone. Also, legitimate businesses will never ask you to pay with Apple cards, eBay cards, Google Play cards or any other prepaid card.
