OC Sheriff warns county of text scam

HARTFORD, Ky. — The Ohio County Sheriff’s Office is warning Ohio Countians about a text scam making the rounds on cellphones.
According to Ohio County Sheriff Tracy Beatty, several residents received text messages on their cellphones about a lost package or a package that was found. These messages are part of an ongoing scam that has plagued many innocent victims.
The message will provide a link to click for more information, don’t click the link. The link will redirect you to a website attempting to get your personal information.
Delete the message and block the number from your phone. You may also report it to the Attorney General’s office at 888-432-9257.
