ECHOLS, Ky. — Mary Jo Scott, 70, of Echols, went to her heavenly home on Monday, May 4, 2020, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born Feb. 3, 1950, in Rockport, Kentucky, to the late Clifton “Tip” Cardwell and Sarah Lois Bartlett Cardwell.
Mrs. Scott retired from Norma’s Hair Palace after many years as a hairdresser. She was a member of Rockport Baptist Church.
Aside from her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Eddie Cardwell, and two sisters, Doris Whitehouse and Caroline Cardwell.
She leaves behind to cherish her memories, her husband of 38 years, Alva Lee Scott, of Echols; two children, Susan (Shelton) Stewart, of Beaver Dam, Kentucky, and Brandon Lee (Amy) Scott, of Beaver Dam; five grandchildren, Haley Jackson, Jessica Cox, Ashton Cox, Quinton Benter, and Joe Stewart; three great-grandchildren, Brentley Jackson, Paisleigh Jackson, and Owen Reed; and two sisters, Peggy (Bobby) Likens, of Beaver Dam, and Belinda (Wayne) Pile, of Echols.
In light of the current health and safety risk, private family services will be held at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam. Burial will take place in Echols Cemetery in Echols.
The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of donation to the Dementia Society of America, 114 North Main Street, Doyleston, PA 18901 or the American Parkinson Disease Association, 135 Parkinson Ave., Staten Island, NY 10305.
