HARTFORD, Ky. — Ohio County Schools will be closed beginning Monday, March 16, 2020, through Sunday, April 5, 2020. The schools are closing in an effort to protect students, faculties, families and the community from getting and spreading COVID-19.
Ohio County Schools made the announcement on its Facebook page within the last half hour. Below is the statement from Ohio County Schools Superintendent Seth Southard,
“Based on the recommendation from Governor Andy Beshear, Ohio County Schools will be closed starting on Monday, March 16 – April 5th.
We will be implementing Non-Traditional Instruction days during this time off. Instructional materials for the next 10 days have been created for each student and will be given out tomorrow. This work, when completed, will count as 10 days of school and the days will not have to be made up.
We plan to continue to provide meals for all of our students during this time and additional information will be sent ASAP.
Again I want to encourage you to send your child to school on Friday, so that the NTI materials can be sent home. Please be assured that all decisions are made based on what we believe is best for our students, staff, families and Ohio County. Your support and cooperation are appreciated as, together, we navigate this unique situation.”
Earlier today, Gov. Beshear recommended all public and private schools to end in-person classes for an extended period of time beginning Monday, March 16, 2020.
