HARTFORD, Ky. — Com-Care EMS is monitoring the evolving COVID-19 situation on an hourly basis. Com-Care is working with the local Hospital Preparedness Partnership, local and state Public Health Departments, the CDC and local hospitals in coordinating its efforts in dealing with COVID-19.
The public can rest assured that your EMS service is trained, prepared and equipped to respond to any need regarding this recent event,” said Jim Duke, President of Com-Care. “All Com-Care staff are receiving specific training in the proper response, treatment and transportation of potential and actual COVID-19 patients.
Com-Care staff will be practicing isolation measures and wearing personal protective equipment in situations many may no normally expect to see them do so.
“This is an effort to safeguard our staff and the patients we come in contact with,” Duke said.
Duke said all Com-Care ambulances would be cleaned and disinfected after each transport, according to CDC recommendations.
“Our staff will be monitored closely to ensure we do not transmit an infection to other patients,” Duke said. “All communities should be confident that your EMS service is prepared for any eventuality as we move forward.
