BUTTONSBERRY, Ky. — Onis W. Davis, 62, of the Buttonsberry Community in McLean County, Kentucky, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 8, 2020, at his home in Buttonsberry. Onis Winfred Davis was born June 4, 1957, in Island, Kentucky, to the late George William “G.W.” and Dortha Lee Smith Davis.
Onis was an electrician and served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army. He was an avid hiker, loved gardening and the outdoors. Onis loved his family and thought the world of his nieces and nephews.
Survivors include three brothers, Maurice Davis (Debbie), Thomas “Turtle” Davis (Amy), both of Owensboro, Kentucky, and Randy Davis (Beverly), of Beaver Dam, Kentucky; a sister, Adora Monroe, of Buttonsberry; three nephews, Richard Monroe II, of Culpepper, Virginia, William Davis and Brandon Davis, both of Beaver Dam; three nieces, Natosha Tekos (Nick), Tatum Evans (Branden), both of Owensboro, Kentucky, and Alexandra Walsh, of Orange, Virginia; a great-nephew, Matthew Monroe, of Sterling, Virginia; two great-nieces, Hailey Walsh and Lacey Walsh, both of Orange; several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Island Community Cemetery in McLean County with the Rev. Chester Smith officiating and Military Honors conducted by the McLean County Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Post # 5415. There will be no public visitation. Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel is handling the arrangements for Onis’ family.
