MADISONVILLE, Ky. — A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet plans to begin work at the Wendell H. Ford Western Kentucky Parkway/U.S. 231 Beaver Dam exit 75 interchange in Ohio County starting Tuesday, Feb. 25.
The project, aimed at replacing the Western Kentucky Parkway/U.S. 231 overpass, will include significant work zone traffic shifts. It will also include restrictions for traffic on U.S. 231 at the interchange and for westbound traffic on the parkway.
This work zone will require all eastbound parkway traffic to take the exit ramp to the U.S. 231 intersection. Motorists who wish to continue eastbound on the parkway will then have to re-enter it using the exit 75 entry ramp. A temporary traffic signal will control traffic flow on the ramps and along U.S. 231.
Message boards have been placed near the work zone to alert motorists about the project. Westbound traffic on the Western Kentucky Parkway and the westbound U.S. 231 entry and exit ramps will function normally.
The initial round of work for this bridge rehabilitation project will replace the superstructure and deck of the parkway’s eastbound overpass. The contractor will use the existing support structure. Replacement of the main bridge structure will allow improved clearance for U.S. 231.
This work is scheduled for completion in late June.
