HARTFORD, Ky. — Martin “Marty” Carlyle Tichenor Jr., of Hartford, died Thursday, Sept. 12, 2019. Marty was born in Owensboro, Kentucky, to the late Martin Carlyle Tichenor Sr. and Joyce Sharp Tichenor.
He was a member of Bells Run Baptist Church.
Marty was raised in Atlanta, Georgia, and was a retired deputy sheriff and field training officer of the Clayton County, Georgia, Sherriff’s office.
After retirement, Marty moved to Ohio County, Kentucky, where he was active in the Republican party and was a member of the Ohio County Airport Board.
He very much enjoyed gun sports and the country life.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his grandparents, Martin W. Tichenor and Helen Harper Tichenor, and Gus Sharp and Rosie Ambrose Sharp.
He is survived by his aunt, Lana Tichenor Taylor, of Orlando, Florida; his great-aunt and -uncle, Joyce Martin Tichenor and Rev. Bill R. Tichenor; by many cousins from both his Tichenor and Sharp families; his constant canine companion, Bradley; and his feline buddy, Mr. Cat.
Visitation will be at Bevil Bros. Funeral Home, 226 Louisville Road, Beaver Dam, Kentucky, from 9 a.m. Friday, Sept. 20, until time of service at 10 a.m. with Reverend Bill R. Tichenor officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Hartford, Kentucky.
