MORGANTOWN, Ky. — James Robert “Jimmy” Belcher, 88, of Morgantown, passed away Friday, Aug. 30, 2019, at the Greenview Regional Hospital in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Jimmy was born July 25, 1931, in Logan County, Kentucky, to the late Thomas and Alma Florance Hayes Belcher.
He was a member of Shiloh Church of Christ and he loved farming, cattle, square dancing and spending time with his family and friends.
Other than his parents he is preceded in death by one grandson, Bud Belcher; one stepson, Tony Grimsley; one brother, W.T. Belcher; and one sister, Jerlene Belcher Hatcher.
James Robert “Jimmy” Belcher is survived by his loving wife of 34 ½ years, Carol Haynes Belcher, of Morgantown; four children, Bobby Belcher (Mary Ann), of Bowling Green, Kentucky, Lyle Belcher (Rita), of Cromwell, Kentucky, Mike Belcher (Sheena), of Morgantown, and Donna Wester (Roger), of Rochester, Kentucky; stepson, Richard Grimsley, of Bowling Green; 15 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at the Jones Funeral Chapel Tuesday, Sept. 3, at 2 p.m. with Bro. Bobby Hatcher officiating. Burial will be held in the Hill Haven Memory Gardens where J.T. Belcher, Issac Belcher, Danny Paul Key, Jarred Grimsley, Matthew West and Austin West will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be held Monday, Sept. 2, from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Tuesday 8 a.m. until funeral time at 2 p.m. at the Jones Funeral Chapel.
