BUCK CREEK, Ky. — Phil Atherton, 72, of Buck Creek, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, May 21, 2019, in McLean County, Kentucky. Phillip Roy Atherton was born Nov. 24, 1946, in Owensboro, Kentucky, to the late Lander C. “L.C.” and Lorean Fay Story Atherton and was married to the former Elaine Ray Atherton March 18, 1983.

Phil was a farmer, former co-owner and founder of Advance Feeding Systems and Landhandlers Service Shop and a member of Buck Creek Baptist Church where he was an active member of the Faith Riders and the Patriot Guard. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and also enjoyed the sport of tractor pulling and spending time with both his family and friends.

In addition to his parents, Phil was preceded in death by an infant sister, Judith Ann Atherton.

Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Elaine Atherton; a son, Phillip Chad Atherton (Debra), of Livermore, Kentucky; two daughters, Shannon Render (Bear), of Calhoun, Kentucky, and Chelsea Atherton, of Beaver Dam, Kentucky; four grandchildren, Hannah Render, Trenton Render, Shelby Atherton and Sydney Atherton; a sister, Janet Hicks (W.E.), of Livermore; a brother-in-law, Horace Atherton Jr., of Calhoun; a sister-in-law, Jeanie Atherton, of Benton, Kentucky; several nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Funeral Arrangements are currently pending.

The Phil Atherton family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to Buck Creek Baptist Church, Building Fund; 3788 U.S. Highway 431 North; Calhoun, KY 42327. Memorial contribution envelopes will be available at Musters in Livermore and at Buck Creek Baptist Church.
