WHITESVILLE, Ky. — Carla Brooks, 68, of Whitesville, passed away Wednesday, April 3, 2019, at her son’s home. She was born Sept. 15, 1950, in Daviess County, Kentucky.
Carla retired from Ohio County Schools and was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church. She enjoyed fishing, sewing, working puzzles, gardening, and was super playful, but most of all she loved spending time with her family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her father, Clyde Gootee, and a brother, Bobby Gootee.
Carla is survived by her husband, Lawrence Brooks; three sons, Anthony (Ava) Ferguson, Rendell (Tracy) Ferguson, Robert Brooks (Haley Edge); her mother, Geraldine Carden Gootee; two grandchildren, and one great-grandchild; three brothers, Kenny, Eddie, Aubrey Gootee; and four sisters, Amy Doty, Nancy Modl, Geatia Peak, and Clara Beeler.
Service will be at 12 p.m. on Saturday, April 6, at Cecil Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Iron Ore Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday at Cecil Funeral Home in Whitesville.
