HARTFORD, Ky. — William R. Bliznick, 82, passed away Monday, March 18, 2019, at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born in New York City to the late Charles Bliznick and Mary Yarowenko Bliznick Nov. 29, 1936.
William was a potter; he enjoyed painting and traveling. William loved diving and was instrumental in bringing diving into the Army. During his 20 years of service, he participated in football and track and field.
William was a Veteran in the U.S. Army who served in the Vietnam War, where he earned a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star.
William is survived by his wife, Renee Bliznick; daughters, Cindy (Daneil) Mascarel, of St. Cloud, Florida, Tarra (Will) Meadows, of Hartford, and Audra Jennings, of Bowling Green, Kentucky; sons, Clay Bliznick, of Hartford, and Robert (Brandy) Jennings, of Trussville, Alabama; sister, Irene (David) Martin, of Fayetteville, North Carolina; two nieces, Stephanie Wiley and Sandra Bumgartener; grandchildren, Tiffany Jenkins, Charles Jenkins, Trey Meadows, Draegon Barick and Claire Meadows, Emma Jennings and Maggie Jennings; and great-grandchildren, Christian Halloway and Waylan Spoonhour.
Service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, March 30, at Miller-Schapmire Funeral Home with Rev. Marc Bell officiating. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Military Honors presented by the Ohio County Honor Guard.
