OWENSBORO, Ky. — Mike C. Goodman, 87, of Owensboro, passed away Sunday, March 17, 2019, while under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. He was born Sept. 19, 1931, in Ohio County, Kentucky, to the late Hardin W. and Rebecca Pryor Goodman.
Mike was retired from the U. S. Army (1952-1972) as a medic and having served in Japan, Germany, Korea, and in Vietnam during the war, worked at Walter Reed Hospital, and received the Combat Medic Accreditation.
After retiring from the military, Mike worked at Owensboro-Daviess Co. Hospital for 15 years. Mike was an avid coin collector, enjoyed working crossword puzzles, and telling jokes and stories, and making people laugh. He was a very loving and dedicated husband, father, and grandfather.
He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Vickie Stallings, April 25, 2018; a brother, Raymond Goodman; and two sisters, Mary Moss and Winona Maglinger.
Surviving are his wife, whom he had been with for 40 years, Nadine Goodman; three sons, Dan Stallings, Richard Stallings and wife, Veronica, and Jeff Stallings and wife, Kathy, all of Owensboro, Kentucky; two daughters, Sonja Jewell and husband, Dennis, and Toni Conder and husband, Mike, all of Owensboro; 15 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Carlton Lee Goodman and wife, Brenda, of Owensboro; a sister-in-law, Wanda Goodman, of McHenry, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral service for Mike Goodman will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 20, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Entombment will follow in Owensboro Memorial Gardens Mausoleum with full military honors. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday and after 8:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
