BOWLIN GREEN, Ky. — John Randell Phelps, 53, of Bowling Green, passed away Monday, March 11, 2019, at the Medical Center of Bowling Green. He was born in Fort Knox, Kentucky, Dec. 24, 1965, to the late Rufard Lee and Rose Mary Jewell Phelps.
John was retired from Houchens Industries and loved to sew.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four nephews; two nieces; grandmother, Bobbie Jean Lay; and uncle, Stanley William Lay Jr.
John is survived by husband, Dewayne Whitlow, of Bowling Green; mother-in-law, Linda Whitlow, of Bowling Green; sisters, Mary Ruth Jones (Wayne), of Morgantown, Kentucky, Mary Ann Burns (Charles), of Portland Tennessee, Mary Jane Haynes (Chuck), of Bowling Green, Mary Sue Fulton (Mike), of Cromwell, Kentucky, Mary Theresa Embry, of Central City, Kentucky, Mary Michelle Walton, of Beaver Dam, Kentucky, Mary Blanche Phelps (Stevie), Bowling Green; brothers, Michael Phelps (Lana), of Fort Myers, Florida, Julian Anthony Phelps (Jo), of Utica, Kentucky, Rufard Phelps (Michele), of Hartford, Kentucky, Christopher Owen Phelps (Dee), of Morgantown, Kentucky, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held on Friday, March 15 at 2 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home with Michael Phelps officiating. Burial will follow in the Grant Phelps Cemetery. Visitation will begin Thursday, March 14 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Friday 8am until time of service.
