DRAKESBORO, Ky. — Joe Phillip Gaither, 79, of Drakesboro, died Saturday, Feb. 23, 2019, at 12:11 a.m. at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. Mr. Gaither was born Feb. 5, 1940, in Ohio County, Kentucky.
He was a retired coal miner from Peabody Coal Company.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Avery and Tassi Gaither, and several brother and sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda “Trish” Montgomery Gaither, of Drakesboro; sons, John (Sarah) Roarke, of Bremen, Kentucky, Joe Phillip (Jacki) Gaither Jr., of Lucas Ohio, and Jared (Denna) Gaither, of Beaver Dam, Kentucky; grandsons, Derek (Jennifer) Roarke, Cameron (Cheyenne) Roarke, Joe Phillip Gaither III, Andrew Quinn Gaither, Logan Daniel Gaither, and Colten Daniel Gaither; great-grandsons, Harper Roarke, Hadley Roarke, Brantley Roarke, and Hudson Roarke; brothers, Jack (Neala) Gaither, and Gene (Evelyn) Gaither; and sister, Barbara Quisenberry.
Funeral services will be Thursday, Feb. 28, at 1 p.m. at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City, with Minister Kim Erwin officiating and Pastor Daren Childers assisting. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Central City. Visitation will be Wednesday, Feb. 27, at 5 p.m. at the funeral home.
