WHITESVILLE, Ky. — Joseph “Glenn” French, of Whitesville, went into the loving arms of his Heavenly Father Jan. 19, 2019, to join his devoted wife of 52 years, Effie Mae Medcalf French, and his loving daughter, Sherry Lynn (French) Calloway. He was born March 28, 1938, to William Earl and Delilah Avery French.
Glenn retired from Kimball International in Fordsville, Kentucky, and enjoyed farming, gardening, carpentry work and brick laying. His hobbies included watching classic television and listening to traditional Christian music. Glenn was a faithful member of Macedonia Baptist Church, where he was baptized Sept. 25, 1994.
In addition to his parents, wife and daughter, Glenn is preceded in death by his loving brothers, Bill, Norman, and Ross French.
Glenn is survived by a loving son, Marty Glenn French and his daughter-in-law, Susan, whom he adored like a daughter, Susan felt that Glenn took the place of a “father figure” when her Daddy passed. She will always have Glenn in her heart. Glenn was also survived by his grandchildren, Carolyn Nichole Howard, Kaitlin Nicole (Kati) Clark, Beth Calloway, Caleb Calloway, and Jessica Calloway; his great-grandchildren, Brantly, Cayson, Huxley, Maelly, and Kaidence; and his sisters, Martha Helen (Joe) Wathen and Pansy (Jim) Manning.
Visitation will be at Cecil Funeral Home in Whitesville Wednesday, Jan. 23, from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Thursday, Jan. 24, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Eulogy services will be held by Bro. Mike Jones Thursday, Jan. 24, at 11 a.m. at Cecil Funeral home with burial following at St. Mary of the Woods Cemetery.
The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Glenn French Memorial Fund. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
