Winter Mid-Holiday Silence

In Community, Community Contributors by OC Monitor Staff

(Editor’s note: As part of our Community Contributors series, we will be publishing poetry. In the past, newspapers routinely published poetry from local authors. We at the Ohio County Monitor wanted to try to reach back into the past and bring the custom back to the present. Below you will find our last Christmas poem. We hope you enjoy it.)

Winter Mid-Holiday Silence

Christmas Spirit fades
When gifts are unwrapped

Stockings are empty
Unfoiled chocolates attacked

Piles of opened presents
Favorites picked

Napping on the couch
Hard to help St. Nick

Once well vacuumed floor
Now littered with bows and paper

Christmas hustle finally rests
Time spent with family and neighbor

All work is closed
No place to be

All looks sad
When taking down the tree

Decorations are gone
Tinsel no more

Promising New Year
New life to adore

Praise our Lord for the day
That Baby Jesus was here

Love to you all
Happy New Year
