(Editor’s note: As part of our Community Contributors series, we will be publishing poetry. In the past, newspapers routinely published poetry from local authors. We at the Ohio County Monitor wanted to try to reach back into the past and bring the custom back to the present. Below you will find a Christmas poem. We hope you enjoy it.)
Holiday Magic Minute
Christmas tree twinkles
Still glistening about
Unwrapped presents
Surprise gifts are out
Children in pj’s
Looking through their things
Pleased with their loot
Enjoy Everything
Parents sitting back
Looking at this view
Pleased with themselves
How they pulled through
Assembling gifts
Putting stickers on too
Reading manuals
For why extra screws
Gadgets to play with
Soft things to touch
Time for each treasure
There is so much
Piles of wrapping paper
Needing to trash
Gotta clean up
Magic gone in a flash
