OWENSBORO, Ky. — Betty Lou Maddox Martin, 83, of Owensboro passed away Sunday, Nov. 18, 2018, at Hermitage Care and Rehabilitation. Mrs. Martin was born June 10, 1935, in Ohio County, Kentucky, to the late Arthur Lee Maddox and Paradine Oliver Maddox.
Betty grew up as the youngest child and only girl in a family with seven brothers which made her a very self-confident and determined person.
She retired from GE and later worked at Fern Terrace.
Betty had a huge collection of porcelain dolls and teddy bears and thoroughly enjoyed quilting, reading, cooking, working jigsaw puzzles, and UK basketball. She loved spending time with her family.
Mrs. Martin was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Earl Ray Martin, in 2014, and her seven brothers, Johnny, Harold, Paul, Othell, Glenn, Jewel, and Billy Maddox.
Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, Michael Martin, his wife, Karen, and Ricky Martin; and daughter, Patricia Martin, all of Owensboro; four grandchildren, Misty Haycraft (Ethan), Meredith Hayden (Eric), Ryan Clark (Christa), and Whitney Logsdon; and 12 great-grandchildren.
The funeral service for Betty Martin will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory where visitation will be Tuesday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the service. Entombment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery.
