David Johnston, candidate for Ohio Co. Judge-Executive

Submitted by David Johnston, incumbent Republican candidate for Ohio County Judge-Executive

My name is David L. Johnston, I was raised in Horse Branch and graduated from Ohio County High School in 1969. Barbara A. Jones and I were married in 1971. We were married 45 years until her passing in July of 2016, from cancer.

I proudly served our country actively in the U.S. Army from 1971-1973. In 1975 I graduated with my Associate’s Degree in Executive Management from Owensboro Junior College.

I began serving our county in 1982 as the first park director for Ohio County for 3 years, but left 26 years and one month later. I was elected judge-executive in 2010 from a field of six candidates and was re-elected judge-executive in 2014 for a second term.

In my eight years as judge-executive we have accomplished many things for Ohio County.

We have paved a record number of roads, improved our WorkReady status for the county, and established an Economic Development Alliance that has brought progress and employment opportunities to our community.

We have funded a complete fleet of cars for our Sheriff’s Office and have kept it up to date, where there were none before. We have also improved our parks and tourism by capitalizing on our Bluegrass music heritage.

I would like to continue the progress of improving the quality of life for the citizens of Ohio County. I urge everyone to get out and vote on Nov. 6.
