HORSE BRANCH, Ky. — Marlene Tarrence, 76, of Horse Branch, passed away Thursday, Oct. 18, 2018, at her home surrounded by loved ones. Mrs. Tarrence was born Feb. 12, 1942, in Butler County, Kentucky, to Jesse Forrest Swift and Helen E. Gary Swift.
Mrs. Tarrence was a homemaker and a member of the Caneyville Church of Christ.
Devoted to her family, she loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and enjoyed riding four-wheelers. She was also a quilter and she especially loved gardening. She was well-known for her large, beautiful flower garden.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Anderson Tarrence.
She is survived by her daughter, Candy Corley, of Horse Branch; a sister, Melinda Miller, of Louisville, Kentucky; two brothers, Charles (Nancy) Swift, of Louisville, and Darrell (Judy) Swift, of Mt. Washington, Kentucky. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Jessie, Matthew and Ben, and four great-grandchildren, Lyddi, Cash, Caroline and Kase.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 19 at the Caneyville Memorial Chapel with Bro. Jarrod Jacobs presiding. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until the time of services. Burial will be in the Craig Cemetery in Ohio County.
