OWENSBORO, Ky. — Marie F. Miller, 95, of Owensboro passed away Sunday, Aug. 26, 2018, at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. The youngest of six children of the late Archie C. and Anna Stevens Foster, and she was born and raised in Ohio County, Kentucky.
She was a graduate of Hartford High School and Bryant & Stratton Business College in Louisville, Kentucky. Mrs. Miller moved to Owensboro and began working for the U.S. Farmer’s Home Administration. She joined Settle Memorial United Methodist Church in 1943 and was an active member the rest of her life. Mrs. Miller was a member of the Mary Lou Phillips Sunday School class and the United Methodist Women.
In 1945 she married Bernard L. Miller and they raised their three sons in Daviess County, Kentucky. She was a life-long Democrat and an avid fan of the UK Wildcats. She was a true Methodist, approaching life in a methodical and deliberate manner. Mrs. Miller retired after 25 years as the secretary of Thruston Elementary School.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years Bernard L. Miller in 1994; her brothers Edward Foster and Charles Foster; and her sisters Gladys Heflin, Beulah McQuary, and Anna Annis.
Mrs. Miller is survived by her sons, Thomas Miller and his wife, Janella, of Lexington, Kentucky, Larry Miller and his wife, Jeanie, of Owensboro, and Harold Miller and his wife, Pat, of Boone, North Carolina; her granddaughters, Jennifer Weronski and her husband, Matt, of Alexandria, Virginia, Angela Veler and her husband, Brandon, of Raleigh, North Carolina, Ann Marie Papania and her husband, Matt, of Owensboro, Jaclyn Condo and her husband, Tim, of Lexington, Kentucky, and Whitney Miller and her husband, Dave, of Lexington; and her great-grandchildren, Preston Weronski, Kennedy Weronski, Georgia Papania, Nancy Marie Papania, and three more on the way.
The funeral service for Mrs. Miller will be 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 31, at Settle Memorial United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 30 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory and from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 31, at church. A service of committal will be 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 31, at Carson Cemetery in Ohio County.
