BEAVER DAM, Ky. — A Raley-Rafferty Reunion will be held Saturday, Sept. 1, at Liberty United Methodist Church in Beaver Dam. The reunion will be an all day event with a potluck dinner at noon. Feel free to bring your favorite dish. Bring a lawn chair.
The Raleys descend from Joseph Newton Raley and his wife, Anna Elizabeth Leach Raley. Their children were Cortes (Annie Paxton), Lela (Annis), John Harlan (Dillie Mae Baize), Alonzo Fielden “Lan” (Anna Elizabeth Stewart), Sophie Jane (John Henry Leach) and Jody (Moseley).
The Rafferty descendants include the parents, Benjamin Pendleton Rafferty and his wife, Martha Lafeyette Keown Rafferty and children Fred (Nannie Stevens), Bill, Sam (Mary Lee Stevens), Chloe (B. Atchison-Otis McConnell), Gertrude (Keown) and Henry Guy (Emma Hancock).
Samuel Alexander Rafferty and wife, Mary Lee Stevens Rafferty, had four children, Reba Aline (Leslie Dukes-James Monroe), Anna “Floron” (Cecil Iler), Elbert Aaron (Celda Sutton) and Orel Guy Rafferty (Geneva Dean “Deanie” Raley).
The children of John Harlan and wife, Dillie Mae Baize Raley, were Hughey, Stan (Dean Moseley), Don (Geneva Leach), Clifford (Hazel Huffman), Edress (Byron Leach Sandefur), Annie (David Parks), Jap (Grace Stewart – The only living of the 10 siblings and spouses.), Bert (Jo Daugherty), Geneva Dean “Deanie” (Orel Guy Rafferty) and Julian “Dude” (Mary Burden).
Dillie Mae Baize Raley’s parents were John (HD) Baize and Margaret Crowder Baize. Their children included Samuel, Felix, Rufus, Elvis (Theresa Stewart), John (HD) II, Estil (Zelphie Raymer), William Perry and one daughter Dillie Mae.
Sam Rafferty’s wife, Mary Lee Stevens’ parents were Cisroe “Boss” Stevens and Marcella Melvina Hocker Stevens and her siblings, Rosa (George Trout), Charlie, Nannie (Fred Rafferty), Nina (Birchell Coleman), Ray (Floy Stewart), Roy (Belva Batterton), Edie (Talbott Miller), Norrine (Kenneth Hughes), Gertrude (Clarence Pruitt) and Aaron.
Any and all relatives and friends, in any way connected to the listed ancestors, are encouraged to attend.
