HARTFORD, Ky. — The Ohio County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents about a scam making its way around the county.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, a complaint was received this morning about a man, claiming to be with KU, who is calling people and telling them their payment is past due. The man threatens to turn off the victim’s utilities unless they meet the caller at a certain location to make a payment.
KU does not handle its past due payments this way. If you receive this type of phone call, hang up immediately and call KU using the phone number on your bill to confirm what the caller said.
