HORSE BRANCH, Ky. — James Lewis “J Lou” Ford, 91, of Horse Branch, went to his Heavenly home on Saturday, July 28, 2018, at the University of Louisville Hospital. He was born on April 20, 1927, in Whiting, Indiana to the late Claude and Artie Mae Grant Ford.
J Lou was a United States Navy Veteran of World War II and was a member of Beaver Dam Church of Christ. He was a man of many trades, he was a candy salesman, a farmer and truck driver; woodworking was his passion, and he came to enjoy dancing in his later years.
Aside from his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Imogene Renfrow Ford; his second wife, Alma L. Ford; and three brothers, C.J. Ford, Doug Ford and Felix Ford.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his two children, Donald (Charlotte) Ford, of Beaver Dam, Kentucky, and Bennie (Sam) Sandefur, of Horse Branch; and two brothers, Harry Ford, of Floyds Knob, Indiana, and Gerald “Pill” Ford, of Louisville, Kentucky. J Lou was blessed with seven grandchildren, Kim, Dawn, Kristy, Misty, Jamie, Heather, and Ryan; one step-grandson, Chad; 16 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 1, at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam. Burial will follow in Sunnyside Cemetery in Beaver Dam with military provided by the Ohio County Honor Guard. Friends may visit with Mr. Ford’s family from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday and 9 a.m. until the time of service Wednesday at the funeral home.
