CENTERTOWN, Ky. — On Sunday, June 3, 2018, Linda Lou Whitaker, 71, of Centertown, came face to face with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ whom she met as a 13 year-old girl during a revival at the Narrows Methodist Church. She recalled it being a wonderful night.
Linda’s compassionate life made a difference in the lives of all of those she came in contact with whether through years of service as an in-home aide, feeding those who were hungry, housing many that were homeless, and just being a friend to her friends. But most of all she was the best mother and granny anyone could ask for. She will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
She was preceded in her home-going by her husband, Bobby Whitaker; her parents, Collis and Christine Shultz, of Fordsville, Kentucky; a brother, Jerry Shultz; and two sisters, Bernice Shultz and Doris Brown.
Linda left behind a son, Clyde Shaffer, his wife, Angie, and their five children, Nathan, Matthew, Rebekah, Luke, and Abigail. Linda also left three daughters, Rhonda Stevens and her husband, Neal, and their three children, Meagan, Seth, and Maddie; Tina Brown and her husband, John, and their son, Wesley; Bobbi Whitaker and her fiancé, Dee LaGrone, and their children, Mason, Gracie , Caden, Austin, Payton, and Nicholas. Linda had nine great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Tyler, Savannah, Howie, Jewell, Maisy, Lily, Xander, and Willow.
Services will be held on Wednesday, June 6, at 11 a.m. at Miller-Schapmire Funeral Home 114 W. Walnut St., Hartford, Kentucky, with interment to follow at Central Grove Cemetery in Centertown. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 5, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and again on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
Miller-Schapmire is both honored and privileged to be entrusted with the care of Mrs. Whitaker.
