OWENSBORO, Ky. — Dorothy Vanover, 91, of Owensboro, and formerly of Utica, Kentucky, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 3, 2018, at Beaver Dam Nursing and Rehab Center in Ohio County, Kentucky. Dorothy Ann Miller was born Sept. 15, 1926, in Daviess County, Kentucky, to the late William Briggs and Cassie Henning Miller and was married to Luther Edward Vanover until his death Feb. 5, 1995.
Dorothy was a homemaker and a charter member of Owensboro Christian Church. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, and canning vegetables.
In addition to her parents and husband, Dorothy was preceded in death by a son, James Daryl Vanover, two brothers, and four sisters.
Survivors include two sons, Barry Vanover and his wife, Dena, of Owensboro, and Roger Vanover, of Utica; two daughters; Caryl Bunner and her late husband, Steve, of Tampa, Florida, and Lisa Banks and Roger, of Drakesboro, Kentucky; five grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Faye Haire, of Owensboro; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel. Burial will be in the Calhoun Cemetery in McLean County, Kentucky. Friends may visit with Dorothy’s family from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. Thursday at Musters in Calhoun.
