OWENSBORO, Ky. — Wilma Jean Hawkins, 87, of Owensboro, passed away on Tuesday, May 29, 2018, while under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. She was born July 11, 1930, in Ohio County, Kentucky, to the late Charlie and Clara Taylor Farmer.

Wilma Jean retired from Modern Building Products and was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church. She loved to cook for her family, crochet, travel, fish and go camping with her husband of 70 years, Opal Hawkins.

Mrs. Hawkins is preceded in death by her siblings, Chester Farmer, Ruby Farmer, Opal Reneer, Jessie McCollum, J.R. Farmer, Flora Towery, Jewell Farmer, and Norma Shearer Bridgmon.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Opal Hawkins; daughters, Linda Head and husband, Stewart, and Debbie Frazier, both of Owensboro; grandchildren, Michelle Hoover and husband, Toby, Christie Ashby and husband, Travis, Jason Frazier and wife, Stacy, all of Owensboro, Nick Frazier and fiancée, Jennifer, of Evansville, Indiana; 11 great-grandchildren; four stepgreat-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 12 p.m. on Thursday, May 31, at Cecil Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Cates Cemetery. Visitation is from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday and after 11 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
