***UPDATE*** HARTFORD, Ky. (5-20-18 – 3:15 p.m.) — This update corrects the county in which Jeffrey Howard was captured. Howard was captured this morning in Bath County, not Bell County as reported earlier. Bath County is in the northeastern area of Kentucky.
Howard was lodged in the Clark County Detention Center and charged with second degree escape.
The correction has been made in the 9:05 a.m. update of this morning.
***UPDATE*** HARTFORD, Ky. (5-20-18 – 9:05 a.m.) — Jeffrey Howard, an inmate who escaped from the Ohio County Detention Center while on work release, has been captured.
According to Kentucky State Police Post 16’s Public Affairs Officer Corey King, Howard was captured this morning in Bath County, Kentucky.
***UPDATE*** HARTFORD, Ky. (5-19-18 – 6:45 p.m.) — The Kentucky State Police reports Jeffrey Howard was last seen in Whitesville (Daviess County) recently. According to Trooper Corey King, Howard stole fuel from a gas station in Whitesville. It’s not known at this time what type of vehicle Howard is driving.

HARTFORD, Ky. — Ohio County law enforcement and the Kentucky State Police are looking for a work release inmate who failed to return to the Ohio County Detention Center yesterday.
Officials at the detention center contacted the KSP just before 9 a.m. yesterday to report the escape.
The preliminary investigation revealed Jeffery N. Howard, 44, of Reynolds Station, was lodged in the detention center for non-violent charges but was granted work release at Tamarlane Industries by the court.
Howard left the detention center around 5:30 p.m. Thursday evening for his shift, but never returned Friday morning as scheduled.
KSP has an active second degree escape warrant for Howard’s arrest and are actively searching for him in the Ohio County area as well as surrounding counties.
Howard described as a white male, 5-10 in height, weighs 175 pounds, brown/gray hair, with blue eyes.
Howard was originally arrested and charged with manufacturing methamphetamine among other charges.
