Scott Lewis, Republican candidate for 14th District State Representative

Submitted by Scott Lewis, Republican candidate for 14th District State Representative

I am Scott Lewis, Ohio County Schools Superintendent, and your hometown choice running for State Representative in the 14th District. The 14th District includes all of Ohio County, as well as East Daviess County.

I am from Hartford, Kentucky, and have spent over 30 years serving the public. I have served as the superintendent of Ohio County Schools for the past six years. Prior to my current position, I served as superintendent of Hancock County Schools for six years. I have been a teacher, coach and school principal at all levels. I also served Daviess County as a State Trooper. I am also a small business owner.

I earned my Bachelor’s degree from the University of Louisville. I later earned a Master’s degree and Rank I Education from Western Kentucky University.

I am the proud father of Tori Warren, Trevor and Trey Lewis. My days are made brighter by my two grandsons, Nash and Knox Warren.

Over the years, I have been very active in various aspects of this community. I have served on several boards, including the Ohio County Heath Department, Ohio County Fair, Ohio County Industrial Foundation, Ohio County Economic Development Alliance, First United Bank Advisory Board. Owensboro Community and Technical College Foundation and Ohio County Wellness Center.

My statewide activities include serving as a member of the Kentucky High School Athletic Association Board of Control, Kentucky Association of School Administrators and Kentucky Association of School Superintendents. I’m also the past President of the Green River Regional Educational Cooperative.

It would be an honor to serve the people of the 14th District. I am pro-education and believe education is an investment in our future. Many of the current issues in Frankfort are education related and I believe my experience would serve the people well in this area. I am also pro-life and pro-coal.

My other priorities include an interest in tax reform, agriculture programs, services for senior citizens, programs for our veterans and workforce development to make sure we have enough skilled workers to attract business and industry. A small business owner myself, I am well versed on the need to knock down barriers and establish programs to help the backbone of our communities, the small business owner.

As superintendent, there are no party lines. My mission was, and is, to always be accessible and to hear concerns before making decisions. I am very much looking forward to working with the people of Ohio and East Daviess County, and the Representatives, across party lines to solve important issues.

I humbly ask for your vote May 22, 2018.

Thank you and God bless.
