ROCKPORT, Ind. — Alton D. Heflin, 86, of Rockport, Indiana, formerly of Madisonville, Kentucky, went to his heavenly home Monday, May 14, 2018. He was born Nov. 15, 1931, in Centertown, Kentucky, to the late Clyde Heflin and Lelia Whittinghill Heflin.

Mr. Heflin retired from Peabody Coal Company. He was a member of Manitou Baptist Church in Madisonville and Beaver Dam/Hartford Masonic Lodge F&AM. Mr. Heflin served in the United States Army during the Korean War.

Aside from his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Lou Smith Heflin; son, Steven Wayne Heflin; brothers, Walton D. Heflin Sr., Ivan Heflin, Richard Heflin, Roy Heflin, Ishmael Heflin, Vernie Heflin, and Willie Heflin; and one sister, Ruby Heflin.

Mr. Heflin leaves behind to treasure his memory one daughter, Dianna Lynn Michael, of Rockport; one grandson, Miles Steven Michael, of Rockport; one brother, Drexel Helflin, of Portage, Indiana; and two sisters, Edith Clark, of Wooster, Ohio, and Edath Kessinger of Naples, Florida.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 17, at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam, Kentucky with Rev. Sam Beeny officiating. Burial will follow in Sunnyside Cemetery in Beaver Dam. Friends may visit with Mr. Heflin’s family from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral Thursday at the funeral home.
