Daniel Martin ‘Danny’ Schapmire

HARTFORD, Ky. — Daniel Martin “Danny” Schapmire, 73, of Hartford, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 12, 2018, with his family at his side. He was born in Ohio County, Kentucky, on May 3, 1944, to the late Martin Casebier Schapmire and Lucille Daniel Schapmire.

He was a graduate of the Kentucky School of Mortuary Science and retired after 50 years as co-owner, funeral director and an embalmer at Miller-Schapmire Funeral Home in Hartford. Following his retirement, he became a certified real estate appraiser.

He was a member of the Beaver Dam Baptist Church and was also a 50-year member of the Funeral Directors Association of Kentucky. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and serving his community.

His presence will certainly be missed by those he loved and leaves to cherish his memory.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Suzanne Schapmire, of Hartford; two sons, Marty Schapmire and his wife, Tara, of Louisville, Kentucky, and Chad Schapmire and his wife, Sally, of Franklin, Tennessee; two grandchildren, Lily Schapmire and Nick Schapmire; a sister- and brother-in-law, Sandra and Eldred Black, of Beaver Dam, Kentucky; a niece, Emily Clark and her husband, Corey, of Owensboro; a nephew, Lance Black, of Beaver Dam, and several cousins.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 15, at Miller-Schapmire Funeral Home in Hartford with Bro. John Cashion and Bro. Glenn Armstrong officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Hartford. Friends may visit with the family from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Wednesday and from 9 a.m. until the time of service on Thursday at the funeral home.

The family requests that expressions of sympathy be made in the form of a donation to the Beaver Dam Baptist Church, 343 South Main Street, Beaver Dam, KY 42320.
