BEAVER DAM, Ky. — Curley Westmoreland Poston, 73, went to be with the Lord Monday, March 5, 2018, at Baptist Health in Madisonville, Kentucky, with his wife by his side. He was born Feb. 20, 1945, in Abingdon, Virginia, to the late Ray A. Poston and Maude O. Rickman Poston.
Mr. Poston served in the United State Air Force during the Vietnam War. He retired from Peabody Coal Company working for Ken Underground and various other underground mines. He was a member of Echols Daystar Church of God and a former member of First Assembly of God in Beaver Dam where he served as a board member, Sunday School Teacher, Sunday School Superintendent, secretary, treasurer, and all around gopher.
Aside from is parents he was preceded in death by one son, Wesley Poston; one great-granddaughter, Anna Michelle; two brothers, Ray C. Poston and Utah Poston; two sisters, Dorothy (Bill) Broyles and Edith (Lee Roy) Hall; brothers-in-law, “Dub” Green and C.W. Burkett; and father- and mother-in-law, William and Anna Myrl Schroader.
Survivors include his loving wife of 49 years, Linda Poston, of Beaver Dam; two sons, Wayne (Liza) Poston, of Beaver Dam, Greg Poston (Mary Frierson), of Beaver Dam; six grandchildren, Eric (Ciara) Poston, Brittany (Adam) Cooper, Brylee Hunter Poston, Hannah Frierson, Sarah Frierson, Joshua Frierson; five great-grandchildren, Abigail Poston, Adalynn Jeffers, Aubrey Woods, Leland Poston, and Leyton Poston; one brother, Douglas M. (Donna) Poston, of Hobart, Indiana; two sisters, Laurel Christine Green, of Beaver Dam, and Bernice Burkett, of Cayce, South Carolina; sister-in-law, Nell Poston, of Walhalla, South Carolina; and several nieces, nephews, in-laws, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, March 9, at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam, with Rev. Betty Shaver officiating. Burial will follow in Sunnyside Cemetery with full military honors to be provided by Ohio County Honor Guard. Friends may visit with Mr. Poston’s family from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. until the time of the service Friday at the funeral home.
