HARTFORD, Ky. — Many people can be found using the walking trail at Ohio County Park in Hartford nearly every day, but some may notice a new sign dedicating the walking trail to Bro. Glenn Armstrong.

Armstrong, former long-time pastor at Beaver Dam Baptist Church, can be found many days walking trail himself.

“This is something we wanted to do here at the park,” OC Parks Director Beau Wright said.

Below is Wright’s dedication on behalf of the OC Parks staff:

We, as the park staff, would like to dedicate the walking trail after Bro. Glenn Armstrong.

Bro. Armstrong has enjoyed the walking trail since it opened. He started by riding his bicycle on the trail, but on Oct. 7, 2010, he was involved in a motorcycle accident when returning home from a trip which resulted in him having his left foot amputated.

Once he was healed enough to wear his prosthetic leg, he began his daily walks at the park in November 2010. You can find Bro. Armstrong walking our trails, rain or shine.

Bro. Armstrong was pastor at Beaver Dam Baptist Church for 40 years. Since his retirement 10 years ago, he has served 12 churches as interim pastor. He likes to drive through the country in his Jeep which he called his four-wheeled motorcycle.

Bro. Armstrong is married to Mrs. Elaine Armstrong and we could not have made this happen without all her help.

So in closing, when people are walking, jogging, or biking the trails, we want them to be motivated, not only to become healthier and stronger, but to become Armstrong.
