LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The National Weather Service in Louisville has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Ohio County. The Winter Weather Advisory will be in effect from 9 p.m. Tuesday night, Feb. 6, until noon Wednesday, Feb. 7.
According to the NWS, mixed wintry precipitation in the form of rain, freezing rain, sleet and snow is expected across southern Indiana and portions of northern Kentucky tonight into Wednesday morning.
At this time, Ohio County is right on the line for mostly rain and a wintry mix, including freezing rain. The line could move more to the north, meaning more rain, or more to the south, meaning more ice potential, the closer the storm gets.
The NWS is forecasting little to no snow for Ohio County, but the county could see ice up to a tenth of an inch. Those totals are dependent on where the snow and wintry mix boundaries set up.
The ice and snow will result in difficult travel conditions, including the morning commute on Wednesday. Motorists are strongly urged to slow down and allow plenty of time to reach their destinations.
A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow, sleet or freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for slippery roads and limited visibilities, and use caution while driving. The latest road conditions for the state you are calling from can be obtained by calling 511.
