BEAVER DAM, Ky. — Melissa Chinn, 68, of Beaver Dam, went to her Heavenly home on Friday, Feb. 2, 2018, at Breckenridge Memorial Hospital in Hardinsburg, Kentucky. She was born Oct. 2, 1949, in McHenry, Kentucky, to the late Burchell B. and Anna Margaret Camp Leach.
Melissa was a member of Echols Daystar Church of God and she attended Longview Baptist Church. Her whole life was dedicated to her family, especially her grandchildren and babies, and to most, she was known as “Granny.”
Melissa managed Subway for the last 25 years and was a member of the Kentucky State Fair Little Miss and Mister Pageant Committee for 35 years, in which 20 of those years she served as the chairperson.
She loved cheering on the Eagle basketball team and #225 Racing Team.
Aside from her parents, Melissa was preceded in death by one sister, Louvenna Leach, and one brother, Joy Leach.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, two daughters, Kelly Lewis (Tim) Gilstrap and Mary (Jason) Tierney, both of Beaver Dam; her brother, Jeff “Bo Dean” Leach, of Beaver Dam; and her sister, Sarita Rice, of Beaver Dam. Melissa was blessed with six grandchildren, Tori (Tyler) Warren, Trevor Lewis, Lee Michael Tierney (Autumn), Trey Lewis, Brennan Gilstrap and Madisyn Gilstrap, and three great-grandchildren, Nash, Knox and Baby Warren.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7, at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam with Rev. Betty Shaver and Bro. Todd Leach officiating. Burial will follow in Render Memorial Cemetery in McHenry. Friends may visit with the family from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday and 9 a.m. until the time of service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
