BEAVER DAM, Ky. — Samuel Cooper Duke, 70, of Beaver Dam, passed away Friday, Feb. 2, 2018, at Ohio County Hospital. He was born Feb. 3, 1947, in McHenry, Kentucky, to the late William Lee Duke and Wilma Jean Stewart Duke.

Sam was a United States Air Force veteran and retired from DuPont in Indiana. He was a member of Church of The FirstBorn in Owensboro and Knights of Columbus.

Aside from his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Sharon Graff.

Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Dorothy Duke, of Beaver Dam; three sons, William Charles Duke, of Nashville, Tennessee, Jeffrey Cooper (Maricar Gonzales) Duke, of Indianapolis, Indiana, Timothy Lee (Lori Elizabeth) Duke, of Lexington, South Carolina; eight grandchildren, Ethan Cooper Duke, Elias Thaddeus Duke, Kimberly Gonzales, Kevin Gonzales, Ceaser Gonzales, Jeffrey Cooper Duke Jr., Samuel Cooper Duke, and Addison Elizabeth Duke; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Steve (Pam) Duke, or Highland, Indiana, and Stanley (Holli) Duke, of Owensboro, Kentucky; and two sisters, Shelah Krause, of Owensboro, and Suzanne (Van) Gurley, of South Bend, Indiana.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 6, at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam, Kentucky with Brother Darrell Hale officiating. Burial will follow in Sunnyside Cemetery in Beaver Dam, Kentucky. Friends may visit Mr. Duke’s family from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday and 9 a.m. until the time of the service Tuesday at the funeral home.
