James ‘Jim’ H. Simpson Sr.

OWENSBORO, Ky. — James “Jim” H. Simpson Sr., 75, of Owensboro, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 28, 2017, at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born on May 21, 1942, in Ohio County, Kentucky, to the late Eura and Gona Mae Pierce Simpson.

Jim retired from Century Aluminum where he worked as a Mechanical and electrical supervisor.

He was a member of the Garfield Masonic Lodge #569 F&AM in Hammond, Indiana, and the Shriners of Evansville, Indiana.

Jim loved his grandbabies and he loved bluegrass music, Jim and his wife played for over forty years together. He enjoyed traveling with his band, Jim Simpson and the Kentucky Mountain Grass.

Aside from his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon L. Simpson; one son, Timothy Wayne Simpson; two brothers, Jerry Simpson and Norman Simpson; and two sisters, Lucille Chinn and Lora Moore.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, three children, James (Kelli) Simpson Jr., of Tell City, Indiana, Ron Simpson (Peggy K.), of Lewisport, Kentucky, and Brandi Clouse, of Owensboro; two brothers, Eddy (Pat) Simpson, of Ohio County, and Billy (Wiladean) Simpson, of Centertown, Kentucky; three sisters, Zora Witherspoon, of Beaver Dam, Peggy Brown, of Louisville, Kentucky, and Barbara (Danny) Rock, of Beaver Dam. Jim was blessed with 11 grandchildren, Jennifer (Jonathan) Gonzalez, Kimberly (Chris) Hawkins, R.J. (Sue) Simpson, Nick (Megan) Simpson, Wendy (Matt) Massie, Amber Simpson, Brandon Hampton, Logan Simpson, Kyle Simpson, Caden Clouse, and Emma Grace Clouse; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 31, at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam. Burial will follow in Sunnyside Cemetery in Beaver Dam. Friends may visit with Mr. Simpson’s family from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. until the time of service Sunday at the funeral home. Masonic Rites will be held at 6 p.m. on Saturday.
