HORSE BRANCH, Ky. — Billy S. Watson, 80, of Horse Branch, passed away Monday, Oct. 16, 2017, at his residence. He was born on Saturday, March 13, 1937, in Horse Branch, the son of the late Theodore and Ollie (Renfrow) Watson.
He graduated from the Horse Branch High School in the class of 1957. Billy retired from the Marines after serving two tours in Vietnam. He was an avionics electrician and instructor.
He also enjoyed farming and loved his animals.
Other than his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife, Nancy Watson, and one step-granddaughter, Kelsey Yates.
Billy is survived by his wife, Dorothy Watson; one son, Billy Watson (Kathy), of Horse Branch; one daughter, Kim Lindsey, of Caneyville, Kentucky; one sister, Bernice E. Cecil, of Horse Branch; two stepsons, Ricky Nance (Jo), of Louisville, Kentucky, and Mark Nance, of Edmonton, Kentucky; two stepdaughters, Pam Yates (Dennis), of Louisville, and Cherice Myers, of Memphis, Indiana; five grandchildren, Brittany Geary (Bunt), of Rosine, Kentucky, Josh Watson (Anna), of Horse Branch, Jacob Watson, of Crossville, Tennessee, Natasha Lindsey, of Ellensburg, Washington, and Hannah Lindsey (Cody Banet), of Leitchfield, Kentucky; four step-grandchildren, Jennifer Nance, Jason Smith, Tasha Myers and Adam Myers; and three great-grandchildren, Bentley Geary, Bristol Watson, and Dakota Banet.
Funeral services will be Thursday, Oct. 19, at 1 p.m. at the Dermitt-Joyce Funeral Home in Caneyville. Bro Sonny Whitely will be officiating. Burial will be in the Layman Memorial Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Dermitt-Joyce Funeral Home in Caneyville Wednesday after 11 a.m. and Thursday from 9 a.m. until time of service.
