HARTFORD, Ky. — J.T. Boling Sr., 90, of Hartford, entered into rest on Monday, Sept. 18, 2017, at his residence. He was born Nov. 11, 1926, in Ohio County, Kentucky, to the late Homer Genius and Blanche Shrader Boling.
J.T. retired from Midwestern Gas in Paris, Illinois, and Danville, Illinois, and then, after 25 years residing in Illinois, he returned to Hartford.
J.T. served in the U.S. Army where he was in WWII and the Korean War. He was active in many civic organizations serving as President of the Historical Society, served 18 years on the Hartford City Council, Ohio County Representative for GRADD Board of Aging, Jaycees, AARP, Ohio County Senior Citizens, a member of Harford United Methodist Church, a member of Ohio County Fair Association, a member of Hartford Masonic Lodge #675 F&AM, and he was a member of the Kentucky Consistory and Rizpah Temple in Madisonville, Kentucky.
He was also responsible for building the Veteran Museum.
Aside from his parents he was preceded in the death by his first wife, Mable Keith Boling; second wife, Jackie Boling; and his oldest son, J.T. Boling Jr.
He was survived by two sons, Charles (Lori) Boling, of Hartford, and Mark Boling, of Danville; daughter-in-law, Karen Boling, of Hartford; stepdaughter, Holly (Rex) Reneer, of Hartford; stepson, Damon (Janet) Snyder, of Lexington, Kentucky. J.T. was blessed with eight grandchildren, Shannon Kirtley, Melissa Cockerel, Chris Boling, Adam Boling, Emily Boling, Abby Fausett, Andrea Boling, and Jared Boling; one step-grandson, Dr. Dexter (Mary Catherine) Reneer; seven great-grandchildren; and three stepgreat-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 22, at Miller-Schapmire Funeral Home in Hartford, with Rev. Bob Clements officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Hartford. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. until time of service Friday at the funeral home. Masonic service will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Military rites services will be conducted on Friday by Wesley Phelps Honor Guard.
J.T.’s family would like to thank his amazing caregivers, Lana Sutton, Vickie Hayse, and Brenda Taylor during his final years.
