HORSE BRANCH, Ky. — Elvera Autry Simpson, 72, of Horse Branch, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2017, at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. She was born Aug. 8, 1945, in Hartford, Kentucky, to the late James Autry and Gracie Maze Pharris.

Mrs. Simpson was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Horse Branch and was happiest when spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one grandson, Daniel Gilstrap; four brothers, Jerry Pharris, Benny Pharris, Donnie Pharris, and Ronnie Pharris; and one sister, Rita Davidson.

Survivors include her husband, Joe Kenneth Simpson, of Horse Branch; five children, Loura (John) House, of Hartford, Selena Gilstrap, of Hartford, Wade Simpson, of Hartford, Cindy (Mike) Daugherty, of Utica, Kentucky, and David (Tina) Simpson, of Horse Branch; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and eight siblings, John, Lila, Edith, Rose, Karen, Ann, Barbara, and Linda.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 15, at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam, Kentucky. Burial will follow in Rosine Cemetery in Rosine, Kentucky. Friends may visit with Mrs. Simpson’s family from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday and after 9 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday at the funeral home.
