BEAVER DAM, Ky. — Delois Jane “Lois” Geary, 78, of Beaver Dam, passed away Monday, Sept. 11, 2017, under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. She was born May 18, 1939, in Ohio County, Kentucky, to the late Elmer Ray Geary and Etta Burden Dufresne.
Lois worked behind the scenes in radio and television broadcasting for many years living in Louisville, Kentucky, Chattanooga, Tennessee, Atlanta, Georgia, New Orleans, Louisiana, and Boston, Massachusetts.
She later settled in Beaver Dam retired as city treasurer. She loved her days as bookkeeper for the Ohio County Country Club, playing golf, and especially playing cards and dominos with her family friends at the club and the Ohio County Senior Center.
Lois was preceded in death by her father, Elmer Geary and mother and stepfather, Etta and Roland Dufresne.
Survivors include one sister, Mary (Geary) Hurst and husband, Ronnie, of Hartford, Kentucky, and her special fur baby, Jax. Also several aunts and cousins also survive.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 15, at Miller-Schapmire Funeral Home, with Rev. Mikey Sweeney officiating. Burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery in Beaver Dam. Friends may visit with the family of Lois Geary from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. until time of service Friday at the funeral home.
