HARTFORD, Ky. — Edna Ruth Beddow, 92, of Hartford, passed away Thursday, Aug. 24, 2017, at Signature Health Care Center in Hartford. She was born Nov. 9, 1924, in Artemus, Kentucky, to the late Grover Cleveland and Ethel Marie Raines Lyon.
Mrs. Beddow was co-owner of E.R. Contracting and Excavating and a member of Hartford Baptist Church.
She was involved in many groups and organizations, including the Hartford Women’s Club, Ohio County Hospital Auxiliary, the Owensboro Traveling Club and she was a Kentucky Colonel. She truly enjoyed life.
Aside from her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Arthur “Cracker” Beddow, on March 31, 2002.
She is survived by three sons, Tommy (Cynthia) Beddow, James “Jimmy” (Susie) Beddow, of Beaver Dam, Kentucky, and Scott (Annette) Beddow, of Hartford; one daughter, Sheila (Walter) Locke, of Madisonville, Kentucky; seven grandchildren, Tina Gill, Candace Thomas, Chad Locke, James Beddow II, Brent Beddow, Tyler Beddow, and Matthew Beddow; eight great-grandchildren, Cody Gill, Justus Johnson, Nathan Locke, Emily Locke, Paige Warren, Ava Beddow, Alaina Beddow and Braxton Beddow; a brother, Mike Lyon, of Lexington, Kentucky, and a sister, Sandra McManus of Irving, Kentucky.
Funeral services for Mrs. Beddow will take place Sunday, Aug. 27, at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Miller Schapmire Funeral Home. Visitation will take place Saturday, Aug. 26, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Sunday. Burial will follow in Sunnyside Cemetery in Beaver Dam.
