OWENSBORO, Ky. — Oval “Bake” Wilson Jr., 70, of Owensboro, passed away Saturday, July 1, 2017, at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born May 27, 1947, in Jetson, Ky., to the late Oval Wilson Sr. and Narva Embry Wilson.
Oval was a member of Southside Church of Christ in Owensboro. He was a retired farmer, flight instructor, and airline captain. He served in the U.S. Army and was a Vietnam veteran.
His hobbies were flying radio-controlled aircraft and his passion was ATVing in the mountains of Kentucky, Tennessee, West Virginia, and Virginia with his wife and friends, enjoying God’s creation.
Oval was preceded in death by his brothers, Onie “Sapp” Wilson, of Beaver Dam, and Lonard Wilson, of Jetson, and two loving pets, Tinker and Miss Kitty.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda; brothers, Onard (Carolyn) Wilson, of Morgantown, Ky., and Oral “Gabby” Wilson, of Owensboro; several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and -nephews, and his loving pets, Buster and JoJo.
Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 5, at Bevil Bros. Funeral Home in Beaver Dam, KY with Mike Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery in Beaver Dam. Military Honors will be presented by the Ohio County Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday and from 9 p.m. until 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
