BEAVER DAM, Ky. — J.C. McKeown, 92, of Beaver Dam, passed away Sunday, June 25, 2017, at his home. He was born Oct. 5, 1924 in Philadelphia, Penn., to the late Jim and Emma Mermon McKeown.
Mr. McKeown was a retired coal miner, member of Sugar Grove Baptist Church, and VFW Post 5766 in Hartford, Ky. He served in the United States Army.
Mr. McKeown was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ora Mae Combs McKeown; son, Daniel Lee “Danny” McKeown; daughter, Brenda Frizzell; two grandchildren, Melissa Baize and Bristol McKeown; and five brothers, Harry, Johnny, Clifford, Tommy, and Edward “Snookie” McKeown.
Survivors include two sons, Ronnie McKeown, of Beaver Dam, and Jim McKeown, of Owensboro, Ky.; three daughters, Nancy Joseph, of Beaver Dam, Sharon (Roy) Dixon, of Beaver Dam, and Peggy McKeown, of Owensboro; 15 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and one sister, Emma (Larry) Smith, of Kempton, Penn.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 30, at William L. Danks Funeral Home with Rev. Eddie Calloway officiating. Burial will follow in Sunnyside Cemetery in Beaver Dam. Friends may visit with Mr. McKeown’s family from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. until the time of the service Friday at the funeral home.
