OWENSBORO, Ky. — Paul Julius Hicks, 79, of Owensboro, passed away on Sunday, June 18, 2017, while under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. He was born Nov. 20, 1937, in Daviess County, Ky., to the late Urey and Edna Burden Hicks.

Paul was a member of Ridgewood Baptist Church and had worked in maintenance for several local vending companies. He was a U. S. Navy veteran and enjoyed Nascar racing and was a Kyle Busch fan. He also loved watching Westerns, working in the yard, fishing with his grandsons, and U.K. basketball.

Also preceded in death by two daughters, Sheila Beyke, in August of 2003, and Faye Vandiver, on Sept. 19, 2006; a granddaughter, Linda Vandiver Bailey; a sister, Thelma Cauley; and three brothers, Everett, Ellis, and Paschal Hicks.

Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Eloise Oglesby Hicks; four sons, Roger Dale Carter and wife, Ann, of Hartford, Ky.; Danny Hocker Sr. and wife, Mary, of Owensboro, David Hocker and wife, Linda, of Utica, Ky., and Keith Hocker and wife, Connie, of Owensboro; two daughters, Tammy London and husband, Jeff, and Kelly Baugh and husband, Jerry, all of Owensboro; 16 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be 12 noon Wednesday, June 21, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will follow in Rosehill Cemetery with full military honors. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
